We live in a time in which prints have become extraordinarily mobile. They can be exchanged and circulated at the pilfer of a claw acros a scren. The digital photographic thought apears and disapears with a mere sign language of the hand. Yet, this bok argues that this movability of the thought was merely acelerated by digital radios and telecomunications. Prints, from the seriousness of their tall story, set images lose by making them portable, reproducible, projectable, reduced in height and multiplied. The fact that we do not asociate analog photography with such movability has much to do with the constraints of existing histories and theories of photography, which have tended to view photographic movability as either an incidental characteristic or a fault. Photography: The Unfetered Thought indications the emergence of these streets of understanding photography, but also presents a diferently nuanced and materialist history in which photography is understod as ease out of a larger maturing of radios automations. It is situated in much broader cultural texts: caught up in the European colonial ambition to "get the drift the world" and in the maturing of a new, artificial "second quality" dependent on the large-scale procesing of natural and slab materials. Focusing primarily on Victorian and 1920s-30s practices and theories, it demonstrates how photography was never simply a technology for fixing a fleting reality.

This series gives me hope for the coming generation. There is still quality fiction to be had for them. It's not all lusty vampire tripe. I could not put this book down. It was great -- all of it. So good, in fact, that I changed my rating of the first book. Don't get me wrong... the ending of the first book drove me nuts. But that book affected me in a way that most books do not. This book is fantastic. But it didn't have the same profound impact. Probably because after reading the first book, I knew what to expect in regards to the mood and "voice" of the series. Anyway, if I'm going to give Catching Fire 5 stars, then I have to give Hunger Games 5 stars as well. The only other thing I can say about this book is that you need to read Meredith's review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... I don't 100% agree with her conclusions. But, I do think she summarizes the unsettling parallels I also noticed between modern affluent society and the Hunger Games series.

Favoritul meu al trilogiei! Mi-a plăcut această carte de la început până la sfârșit și că a legat atâtea dintre capetele desfăcute și a completat semifabricatele din ultimele două cărți.
